Example predictions Hypothesis: The people living in the south of Cleethorpes will have a higher quality of life than those in the north. – In the south there will be more detached houses – In the south most people will own their own houses – In the south there will be less vandalism than in the north

In the north there will be more terraced housing In the south most houses will 3 bedrooms or more In the north, very few houses will garages Most people in the south will have holidays abroad

Your own question Most people in central will have cars aged between 3-6 In the north there will be very little open space

What is quality of life? How can we measure quality of life? – You need to state what quality of life is – You need to state what criteria you are going to use to determine the areas quality of life

The theory Your coursework will be based on a settlement so you will need to talk about the theories you have learnt about in this unit. There are various land use zones recognised in MEDC settlements: 1.Central Business District (CBD) 2.Zone of transition (Industry) 3.Inner city (Lower class residential) 4.Inner suburbs (Middle class residential) 5.Outer suburbs (rural-urban fringe)

This includes types of housing, facilities and amenities You will be given a photocopy of an OS map. You will have to mark on the location of the zones on map. Write down the grid reference in this box and the name of the road

Property Research There are five main housing types in the Greater Grimsby area – Detached – Semi-detached – Terraced – Bungalows – Flats For each type of housing you have a picture, a description of the housing type and two examples of where you might find the different types of roads in Cleethorpes – road names and prices

Cleethorpes Coordinates survey You will need an OS map of Cleethorpes For each of the three wards you will look at in Cleethorpes you will need to identify examples of: – Amenities – Open space – Modern housing – Terraced housing – Old part of Cleethorpes
