A book that contains writings by different authors is called an anthology. This book about Lewis & Clark is an anthology of scholarly essays by many historians. This is how the book is listed in the EBSCO eBook Collection.

4 Lewis, W. To cite an essay in an anthology, start with the name of the author of the essay. (We’ll get to the editors of the book later.) No matter how many authors there may be, always write the last name first, followed by initials.

Spence (Eds.), Now that we’ve written down the author and title of the essay, it’s time for the editors and title of the book. Start with the word “In”, because the essay is in the book. This is the only time you write names with the initial first.
