June 6 - 12, 2010 “If the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.” (Ezekiel 33:6, New International Version) Weekly World Watch Andy Walton’s To skip the introductory slides and go straight to this weeks developments click here.

What is a Weekly World Watch? Israel: The continuing conflict in the Middle East and focus on Jerusalem. Europe: Its developing union, both political and religious. Russia: Its return to anti-Western ways as Bible prophecy’s “king of the north.” The UK and the US: Bible prophecy’s “king of the south.” Moral standards in decline and violence on the increase. WWW presentations in PowerPoint can be ordered as audio/visual CDs by clicking here. Move your mouse to place the cursor on the blue link and click.clicking here The idea is simple. It is to look at current events and compare them to events spoken of in the Bible.. I hope to build up a picture of God’s hand working in the affairs of this world. God is bringing about a day when all nations will be gathered to Jerusalem to battle. At that time God will send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, back to this earth. Jesus will then establish God’s kingdom on earth. This kingdom will last for ever. This is our hope and the reason we watch. Increasing natural disasters: including earthquake, famine etc The following six themes will appear repeatedly in WWW:

HEADLINE EVENT COMMENT News Photo The source of the headline and the date are included. Each WWW looks at a few key developments that have happened during the past week. It is in no way meant to be exhaustive – just a look at those events I saw as significant from a Biblical point of view. What is in a Weekly World Watch? BIBLE QUOTE This is normally one verse which backs up why the event that has occurred is interesting from a Biblical perspective. Please read in its context. Unless stated otherwise, all quotes are from the King James Version. (Book, chapter, and verse) This is straight from a news report that caught my eye because it looked significant from a Biblical perspective, usually that of prophecy. Every WWW event slide has the following format. To reveal each block of text just left click your mouse or press the space bar. You control when it appears. This is the reporter’s description of the event. It is always a direct quotation from the news report and reflects the understanding of the reporter and editors. This is my comment on why the event is interesting to a Bible student. The intention of the WWW is to offer brief Biblical perspectives without going into detail. If more detail is desired, please e-mail me: (andy@weeklyworldwatch.co.uk).

Iran raises Gaza threat by vowing to challenge Israel's blockade Iran sought to push Israel into a potentially explosive confrontation in the Mediterranean Sea after a charity close to the Islamic regime announced plans to send two aid ships to Gaza. The Iranian Red Crescent Society said 8,000 volunteers had enlisted for an attempt break Israel's maritime blockade of Gaza. The latest challenge to Israel's hold over the enclave comes just days after its naval commandos shot dead nine pro-Palestinian activists on a Turkish vessel that attempted to run the blockade last week. As Israel fought to fend off calls for an international investigation into the deaths, fears that militant groups in Gaza might launch reprisal attacks surfaced yesterday when an Israeli naval patrol shot dead four Palestinian fighters dressed in diving gear in the waters off the territory. Daily Telegraph, June 7, 2010 EVENT COMMENT I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it. Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eye shall not spare children. BIBLE QUOTE (Isaiah 13:17,18) It’s not over yet – in fact it has only just begun. The crisis that began last week when Israel stopped several “humanitarian” ships from entering Gaza continues to send shockwaves around the world. Iran appears keen to capitalise on this situation by sending its own ships into the fray. On Monday US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton predicted "Iran would pull some stunt in the next couple of days“. God said that he would “stir up the Medes” at the time of the final judgement of the world. The Medes are modern day Iranians. We see them stirred up now. They have no regard for any humanitarian needs of the people of Gaza. God tells us “they have no pity on the fruit of the womb”. It is all a guise to try to destroy the nation of Israel.

EU seeks to open sea route to Gaza The European Union wants to help open a sea route to Gaza and to revive and expand its role at the land crossings into the area, diplomatic sources told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday. Its Foreign Affairs Council plans to debate the matter on Monday, when ministers from the EU’s 27 countries convene in Luxembourg for their monthly meeting. The debate comes amidst sharp international criticism of Israel’s three-year policy of closing Gaza’s land passages to all but humanitarian goods. “The EU has called for an immediate and sustained opening of the Gaza crossings and they will look into options of how the EU could facilitate this,” a council spokeswoman told the Post. According to diplomatic sources the EU has floated a plan for Gaza-bound ships to be inspected in Cyprus to ensure that no weapons are on board. A European vessel would then accompany the ship to Gaza. In an alternative plan the ship would dock first in Ashdod to be inspected by Israel and then proceed under similar accompaniment to Gaza. Jerusalem Post, June 11, 2010 EVENT COMMENT Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame. And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon. BIBLE QUOTE (Revelation 16:15,16) Suddenly everyone is concerned about the plight of the Palestinians in Gaza. Europe wants to help and send in ships with aid. What is interesting is that Gaza’s port is not big enough to accept cargo ships! Even before Israel imposed a naval blockade on Gaza, no cargo ships sailed there. Historically, all goods that entered the area in bulk did so by land. What is also conveniently overlooked is that Hamas (the group controlling Gaza) has been classified as a terrorist organisation by Europe itself. Hamas is seeking the destruction of Israel. The world now ignores this poignant fact. What we are witnessing is the mad philosophies of the world in action. The support of a terrorist organisation over Israel. The nations of the world are being gathered to battle.

Obama calls situation in Gaza "Unsustainable" President Barack Obama urged Israel on Wednesday to help ease restrictions on humanitarian aid and civilian goods for Gaza after a deadly flotilla raid, saying the situation in the blockaded coastal strip was unsustainable. Hosting Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the White House, Obama also pledged $400 million in U.S. assistance for the West Bank and Gaza, and sought to prevent heightened Middle East tensions from derailing U.S.-brokered peace efforts. Obama called for a "new conceptual framework" to the Israeli embargo on Gaza and said his administration was pressing the Jewish state to work with all parties to find a solution. Reuters, June 9, 2010 EVENT COMMENT And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs.. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. To find out why these spirits are like frog CLICK HERE and order the Pharaoh, Frog, Freedom CDCLICK HERE BIBLE QUOTE (Revelation 16:13,14) Even America, Israel staunchest ally has fallen for the “humanitarian aid” ruse. The so called “freedom flotilla” has one thing in mind. The end of the state of Israel as we know it. In Revelation 16 we read of unclean spirit like frogs that go out to the kings of the earth and the whole world. It is these froglike spirits that gather the nations to Armageddon. These unclean froglike spirits are precisely what we see in action with the bombardment of humanitarian ships against Israel. So what are these spirits? An unclean spirit in the NT is mental illness or madness. See Matthew 5:2. In the OT it is used to describe false teaching and lies. See Zechariah 13:2,3. So we expect some mad, crazy, false teachings and lies that infect the leaders of the world. The crazy teachings of “human rights” has indeed infected the whole world. God and his Word have been totally disregarded. As we watch these ships under the guise of “human rights” and “freedom” with their “human rights activists” on board we are watching these very spirits unleashed against Israel. It will lead to Armageddon and judgement.

Russia, Turkey and Iran meet, posing test for U.S. Leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran convened at a security summit meeting in Istanbul on Tuesday in a display of regional power that appeared to be calculated to test the United States just one day before a scheduled American-backed debate in the United Nations Security Council on imposing tighter sanctions over Iran’s nuclear program. Mr. Ahmadinejad was to meet separately on Tuesday with the Russian prime minister, Vladimir V. Putin, at the conference, a move that is likely to worry the United States, which won the support of both Russia and China for sanctions this month. Mr. Putin, speaking at the conference, said sanctions should not be “excessive” but gave no details on whether Russia would change its mind on the vote. He called Iran’s nuclear program peaceful, a characterization with which Washington disagrees. “I hold the opinion that this resolution should not be unnecessary, should not put Iran’s leadership or the Iranian people into difficulty,” Mr. Putin said. New York Times, June 8, 2010 EVENT COMMENT And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which waxed exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the pleasant land. And it waxed great…..he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand. BIBLE QUOTE The other element to the current crisis are the new relationships that have quickly developed between Turkey, Iran and Russia. This is quite remarkable as only a few years ago Turkey was pro West and Israel’s closest Muslim ally. To see the three nations gathered together in Istanbul is amazing. Istanbul was once called Constantinople. It became the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire. In this Eastern side of Europe the Bible symbology is one of the iron legs of Daniel 2. It is the developing little horn of the goat of Daniel 8. It is the king of the north of Daniel 11. It is the dragon of Revelation 16. The centre of power of this Eastern side moved away from Constantinople and went to Moscow. The new power (Putin) returned there this week. (Daniel 8:9,25)

Turkey says Iran sanctions "mistake"; deepens Arab ties Turkey called the imposition of U.N. sanctions on Iran a "mistake" on Thursday and said that it and Brazil would continue to seek a diplomatic solution to remove concerns over Iran's nuclear programme. In a speech to an Arab and Turkish ministerial forum, Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan also announced plans to form a regional free trade zone with three Arab states -- Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. The moves will add to concerns, voiced on Wednesday by U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, that the pivotal Western ally is in danger of swinging eastward because of resistance in Europe to its bid for membership of the European Union. Turkey and Brazil, both non-permanent members of the U.N. Security Council, were the only members of the 15-strong council to vote on Wednesday against the imposition of new sanctions against Iran. Lebanon abstained. Reuters, June 10, 2010 EVENT COMMENT Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah [Turkey] of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee. Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them. Further sanctions were put on Iran this week. By a twist of fate (we would say “by God’s hand) Turkey is currently one of the member of the UN Security Council. There are 5 permanent members of the Security Council. China, Russia, France, UK and USA. The General Assembly pick another 10. These 10 have just 2 years terms. Turkey was elected on the 1 st Jan 2009 and finishes on the 31 st Dec 2010. It means at this crucial time Turkey has a much louder voice than it would have otherwise. They were able to vote against the sanctions against Iran. They do not have a veto though like the permanent members do. Note the comment above from Robert Gates that Turkey is “swinging eastward”. Iran and Turkey are both mentioned in Ezekiel 38 as attacking Israel with Russia. We see everything being prepared…. BIBLE QUOTE (Ezekiel 38:6,7)

Genetic study sheds light on Jewish diaspora Scientists have shed light on Jewish history with an in-depth genetic study. The researchers analysed genetic samples from 14 Jewish communities across the world and compared them with those from 69 non-Jewish populations. Their study, published in Nature, revealed that most Jewish populations were "genetically closer" to each other than to their non-Jewish neighbours. It also revealed genetic ties between globally dispersed Jews and non-Jewish populations in the Middle East. This fits with the idea that most contemporary Jews descended from ancient Hebrew and Israelite residents in the Middle Eastern region known as the Levant. It provides a trace of the Jewish diaspora. Doron Behar from Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa, Israel, led an international team of scientists in the study. He described it as a form of "genetic archaeology". "It seems that most Jewish populations and therefore most Jewish individuals are closer to each other [at the genetic level], and closer to the Middle Eastern populations, than to their traditional host population in the diaspora," he explained. BBConline, June 9, 2010 EVENT COMMENT For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ…..And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. BIBLE QUOTE (Galatians 3:27,29) In Genesis we read that God created all life on earth. He uses the phrase “seed after his kind” to describe how trees, fruit etc would replicate. The same applies not only to plants but also to animals and humans. In relation to this phrase “after his kind” Strong's says “Groups of living organisms belong in the same created "kind" if they have descended from the same ancestral gene pool.” In God’s sight there are 2 gene pools for humans. Jewish and Gentile. The study above shows this is the case. The wonderful news is though that though we technically belong to the Gentile gene pool we can be grafted in to the Jewish one and share in their wonderful promises made to the original father of the Jewish nation – Abraham.
