4  Know and enforce your contract  Understand the grievance process  Know the difference between a grievance and a gripe  Problem solve  Support members  Protect the rights of all members (agency fee payers, too)

6  Regularly attend building rep meetings  Hold regular building meetings  Distribute materials  Set up communications system Update rosters (cell numbers, home emails, etc.) Establish & maintain email list Establish & maintain phone trees Maintain Association bulletin board

7 ORGANIZE & MOBILIZE

8  Welcome & recruit new members  Engage with members fact to face – don’t rely on email  Speak out about the benefits of being a union member – Be Proud!  Encourage all members to attend meetings and Association activities  Lead by example

9  Delegate Association responsibilities when possible – bring others along  Find a job for anyone who wants to be involved  Identify new leaders and activists  Don’t be afraid to “make an ask” when important issues are at stake, i.e. bargaining, political action, advocacy, joining WEA-PAC
