2 2 Moscow 2009 IMSA vice-president election On December, 19 2007 in Beijing (China) there took place the Assembly of the International Mind Sport Association (IMSA) where Russian businessman, the president of the Russian Bridge Federation Mr. Valery Zakoptelov was elected the IMSA vice-president. Valery Zakoptelov is a member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ОАО «Bereznikovsky Sodovy Zavod» and Chairman of the Board of Directors of ОАО «Mosstroyplastmass», a member of the Supervisory Board of ZAO «Mosstroyeconombank». Valery Zakoptelov is the IMSA commercial vice-president, the president of the Russian Bridge Federation, the president of the European Mind Games Centre, a member of the European Club of the Russian Government, the vice-president of the Association Multisport of Russia.

3 3 Moscow 2009 IMSA Cup The first international mind sports games "IMSA Cup“ April 27-29, 2008, Perm, Russia On April 27-29, 2008 the Russian city of Perm was the venue of the first mind sports games "IMSA Cup". For the first time in history masters of four mind sports, including Chess, Bridge, Draughts, and Go gathered under one roof. A demonstration match within the tournament presented the Chinese chess Xiang Qi. "IMSA Cup" became a dress rehearsal for the 1st World Mind Sports Games to be held in the XXIX Olympic and Paralympic Games host city Beijing, shortly after their ending. The competition was held by International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) and Multisport Association of Russia - the official representative of IMSA in Russia under the auspices of the European Olympic Committee and Russian Olympic Committee. "IMSA Cup" gathered over 100 sportsmen from 11 countries (Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Moldova, France, Poland, Czech Republic and Korea). The level of "IMSA Cup" was really high, as a significant number of eminent players took part in the tournament. Alexandra Kosteniuk - Vice- Champion of the World, European Champion and International Grandmaster - participated in the chess tournament. And among the participants in Bridge was the President of IMSA and World Bridge Federation Jose Damiani.

4 4 Moscow 2009 IMSA Cup Honoured guests visiting "IMSA Cup" included the multiple world champion, President of the International Association of Peace Foundations, Ambassador for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Anatoly Karpov. "IMSA Cup" opening ceremony marked a significant event, which put an end to the discord in Draughts. After six years Russian Draughts Federation resumed its membership with the World Draughts Federation. This was confirmed with a convention signed by the President of World Draughts Federation Vladimir Ptitsyn, President of Russian Draughts Federation Alexandr Zakhryapin and General Secretary of Multisport Association of Russia Alexey Kylasov. The final day of "IMSA Cup" was dedicated to friendly matches between masters of mind games and honourary guests of the competition - European ambassadors - participants of the round table "Russia - EU: not only oil and gas", which took place in Perm on the same dates. The guests were entitled to play Chess, Bridge, Draughts, Go and Xiang Qi with the winners and medalists of "IMSA Cup", and with Alexandra Kosteniuk and Anatoly Karpov. At the solemn closing ceremony the prize fund of the friendly match between the champions in mind sports and European ambassadors was remitted to the Federation of physical culture, sport and creation of disabled people of Perm Krai. Anatoly Karpov handed the cheque for 10 000$ to a representative of the Federation. In this manner the organizers and guests of the tournament voiced their support to the incipient movement for the promotion and development of mind sports.

6 6 Moscow 2009 IMSA at SportAccord 2008 Main idea of presenting IMSA at SportAccord-2008 – presentation of IMSA to the world sport community, announcing the happening of the 1 st World Mind Sports Games in Beijing, China (October 3- 18, 2008). 8 8 Moscow 2009 Mind Games Promotion IMSA & 1st World Mind Sports Games feature at TAFISA Games Prior to the commencement of the 1st World Mind Sport Games, IMSA was featured in the exhibition & promotion program of the 4th TAFISA World Sport for All Games. The Games took place in one of the most influential oriental marine centre, the Korean city of Busan, from September 26 until October 2, 2008. IMSA & 1st World Mind Sport Games exhibition stand, created in the form of an art gallery was seen by the exhibition visitors and officials as the most remarkable among the other stands. The stand concept was composed around the overview of four fundamental intellectual sports in the four stand rooms (Chess, Bridge, Draughts and Go) and the most prominent features or these sports. Fifth and final room presented the future of the International mind sport movement - Cyber Sports. The stand was given its 'best-of-all' status also for the its video-walls and unique premium distribution program comprised of the IMSA Ring distribution to VIP guests.

9 9 Moscow 2009 Mind Games Promotion The total number of visitors was 10,000. Among the visitors were officiating members of TAFISA (Trim& fitness International Sport for All Association), the participants of the Sixth International Olympic Committee World Sport, Education, Culture Forum and Tenth Asian Sport for All Association congress. IMSA exhibition and promotion program at the 4th TAFISA World Sport for All Games was concluded with the VIP Gala sponsored by the International Mind Sports Association.

10 10 Moscow 2009 The 1st World Mind Sports Games From October, 3 to 18 2008 in Beijing (China) the First World Mind Sports Games were held. The Games were organized by the International Mind Sports Association (IMSA) under the aegis of the General Association of International Sport Federations (GAISF) and with the support of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). All in all 35 medal sets in 5 sports were vied for in 5 sports: 10 – in chess, 9 – in bridge, 6 – in go, 5 – in draughts and 5 – in Chinese chess xiangqi.

12 12 Moscow 2009 Mind Games in Brussels The IMSA presentation took place on December 9, 2008 in Brussels. It was held during the meeting of the European Club of the Government of the Russian Federation. The simulations games were held with the participation of the European ambassadors and the ex world chess champion Anatoly Karpov.

13 13 Moscow 2009 Mind Games in Paris The simultaneous games between the representatives of the European Club of the Government of the Russian Federation, the european ambassodors, the foreign representatives of the business circles and the ex world chess champion were held on the meeting of the European club in Paris, on March 13, 2009. The event was organized under the aegis of the European Mind Games Centre.

14 14 Moscow 2009 Partner of the Festival "Spasskaya Tower" Spasskaya Tower is a music fiesta, a spectacular show, staged on the background of the monumental walls of the Kremlin, and a great “battlefield” of the bands from different countries fighting for the love and admiration of the audience. The harmonious combination of military, classical, folk and popular music, military band parades and dance shows, laser and pyrotechnical effects makes the Festival one of the brightest and most memorable events of the year. Direction of the International Military Music Festival “Spasskaya Tower” expresses sincere thanks to all companies, which gave financial support and assistance to the Red Square Festival in September 2009. Your efforts and help made it possible for the Festival to take place and thus to start a new tradition in Russia. In year 2009 European Mind Games Centre was among official partners of this Festival.
