What a Mom really wants… 1. Obedience and respect 2. Child’s character growth and wisdom 3. Appreciation 4. Care in her old age

Joy or Grief for Mom (Proverbs 10:1) A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother. Proverbs 23:25) May your father and mother be glad; may she who gave you birth rejoice! (Proverbs 17:25) A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the one who bore him. (Proverbs 20:11) Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.

God bases our relationship on grace (Ephesians 1:5-8) For he chose us in him before the creation of the world… In love {5} he predestined us to be adopted as his sons … {6} to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. {7} In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace {8} that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

Grace motivates pure and holy living (2 Corinthians 6:18) "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty."(2 Corinthians 7:1) Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

THE WORLD’S WAY Conditional Acceptance Authority Accountability Affirmation Acceptance

GOD’S WAY Acceptance based on Grace Authority Accountability Affirmation Acceptance (Romans 15:7) – Accept One another then, just as Christ accepted you.

Learning how to obey God… at home (Colossians 3:20) Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. (Hebrews 12:9-10) Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of our spirits and live! {10} Our fathers disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, that we may share in his holiness.

Submitting to each other (Ephesians 5:21) Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. (Romans 12:10) Honor one another above yourselves.
