While those who disagree and resolve their arguments, there are others who stand by and dissent. Those who dissent are the minority of America. Those who dissent do not argue; they quarrel. In The Decline of Radicalism, by Daniel J. Boorstin, Boorstin believes that disagreement is essential to democracy, while dissention is detrimental. Boorstin is correct in his distinction between disagreement and dissent.
