3 Standards This international exchange standard has been designed to enable the transfer of Digital Geographic Information (DGI) between geographic information systems. This documentation now forms a baseline from which both system developers and national survey organizations can plan their development and production activities. Research into all aspects of DGI is continuing within the Digital Geographic Information Working Group (DGIWG) forum and any subsequent potential changes will be subject to formal change control procedures http://www.digest.org/html/gp4a-toc.htm
