8 Flexibilities of the QCF Several other qualifications identified to support HSC Diplomas Many units can be used in 3 different ways –as optional units within the HSC Diplomas –within smaller specialist qualifications –CPD to develop learning in bite sized chunks and reflect business need

9 Learning Disability qualifications Future of LDQ – no longer necessary: Contextualisation of Common Induction Standards Specialist LD pathway through HSC Diploma New leaflet produced as guidance to new Learning Disability qualifications **all LD qualifications now available**

10 Learning Disability qualifications Level 2 and 3 Awards in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities Structure: 1 Mandatory unit Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities ( 4 credits) Optional units to make up remaining 8 credits (minimum) 12 credits in total

11 Learning Disability qualifications Level 2 and 3 Certificates in Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities Structure: 3 Mandatory units –Understand the context of supporting individuals with learning disabilities – level 2 only, to be used at both levels –Support person-centred thinking and planning – units at levels 2 and 3 to be used at respective levels –Shared Core Communication Unit - at levels 2 and 3 to be used at respective levels Optional units – to make up remaining credits

13 Assisting and Moving Individuals for Social Care Settings Level 2 Certificate Assisting and Moving Individuals for Social Care Settings learners can continue to undertake statutory training or complete the new qualification Expected launch in early 2011 Level 3 Award Inducting others in the assisting and moving of individuals in social care must be completed alongside train the trainer course **Now available**

14 Activities Organiser Need for these qualifications identified by the sector. Level 2 Award in Supporting Activity Provision in Social Care available to learners Level 3 Certificate in Activity Provision in Social Care **Now available**

15 Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care Aimed at learners from 14 years old interested in working in adult social care Knowledge only Link to the knowledge elements of the mandatory HSC Diploma units allowing for progression and removing duplication Can be delivered in school or college To be included in the Apprenticeship Framework to meet knowledge requirements L2 & L3 Launch in January 2011

17 Commissioning Procurement and Contracting in Care Services Aimed at people working in roles involved in commissioning, procurement and contracting for care services. Diplomas at Level 3, 5 and 7. Generic units available that cut across other sectors and different qualifications within HSC to aid transferability. **Now available**

18 Ongoing work Mental Health Food Safety and Nutrition Diabetes Seated Exercise Sexuality Further LD development e.g. autism units Further units to be added to L5 diploma End of Life Infection Prevention and Control

19 Mental Health Development led by Skills for Health with partners (including Skills for Care) on the development of: L3 Diploma in Working in Mental Health (Competence) Launch date: spring / summer 2011 Qualifications already available: L2 and L3 Certificate in Community Mental Health –replaces old certificate in community mental health (knowledge only) L2 Award in Understanding Working with People with Mental Health Issues (knowledge only)

20 Food Safety and Nutrition L2 Award in Food Safety I unit, probably 1 credit L2 Award in Food Safety and Nutrition (To be confirmed) Expected launch date: April /May 2011

21 Diabetes 5 new units developed Other units already available to be utilised in the qualification L2 Certificate in Supporting Individuals with Diabetes Expected Launch date: April 2011
