3. Leninogorsk is a small town, situated in the south-east of Tatarstan. It was founded in 1955 and we can say it is a very young town. Before 1955 there was a village, called Pismyanka. As soon as oil was found in our place, oil industry began to develop and the town began to build and grow. As oil industry plays an important part in the economy and life of the town, Leninogorsk is called the town of oilmen.

4. The population of our town is more than 60,000 people nowadays. People of different nationalities live here. Most of them are Russians and Tatars. Our town is situated in a very beautiful place. It is surrounded by green hills. One cannot help admiring the picturesque sight of the town. We have some places of interest. In the centre of the town there is a square.

5. There is the town’s house of culture, where usually concerts, performances take place.

6. The museum of oil The museum of oil is the most famous sightseeing. It’s the only museum of that sort in our country and it’s always visited by guests of our town.

7. In our town there are 13 secondary and Pedagogical Institute, Pedagogical secondary school, oil technical school, vocational schools. Besides there are sports schools, music school, art school for children. Talented children can attend these schools to improve their skills.

8. There is a monument to the First Oilmen in our town. It is very attractive monument. There are also other monuments – to Shashin, Lenin, Tookai. There is ‘Eternal Fire’ and the Heroes avenue in the town. In Leninogorsk there are cinemas, museums, the Youth centre, parks, shops and department stores, market, cafes, restaurants, hospitals.

9. Citizens are fond of sports and it’s one of their favourite occupations in their spare time. We have a big modern sports complex, which includes stadium, gymnasiums, skating-rinks, ski-jumps, swimming-pools and Ice Palace which was constructed not long ago. Leninogorsk is my native town and it is very dear to me. I think it’s one of the best towns all over the world.
