2. STEP 1: Student verbally requests recommendation from teacher.

3. If teacher agrees, student enters recommendation request in Naviance. Log on to Naviance account (if you need your Naviance username and/or password, contact your counselor). STEP 2:

4. In Naviance, go to Colleges tab > click “Colleges I’m Applying To” STEP 2 (continued):

5. The first item you will see is the Common Application Matching box; this will be explained in Step 3. STEP 2 (continued):

6. Scroll down to Teacher Recommendations and click “Add/Cancel Requests”. STEP 2 (continued):

7. Select teacher from drop down menu (a personal note is optional, but a nice touch!). Scroll down and click “Update Requests”. STEP 2 (continued):

8. Student must be accurate regarding Naviance delivery type: Common Application Other Electronic Paper This will be indicated under “Delivery Type” when you have added the college name to your “Colleges I’m Thinking About” list): STEP 3:

9. If Common App: Enter your Common App e-mail address (i.e. the e-mail address you used when you created your Common App account) and Date of Birth and click the MATCH button. You MUST complete this step in order for your transcripts and recommendations to be sent to Common App colleges! STEP 3 (continued):

11. If Other Electonic: no further action is required by the student. If Paper: student provides teacher with any required college forms and letter-sized envelope addressed to the college including one (1) first-class stamp. STEP 3 (continued):
