The U.S. Department of Labor estimates that today’s learner will have 10 to 14 jobs...
by age 38.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor...
1 out of 4 workers today is working for a company for whom they have been employed less than 1 year.
More than 1 out of 2 are working for a company for whom they have worked less than 5 years.
The top 10 in-demand jobs in 2012… didn’t exist in 2004. 2004.
In partnership with schools & businesses, we are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist...
using technologies that haven’t yet been invented...
in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet.
What does it all mean?
Students need high-level skills
Math and science are critically important
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are 21 st Century necessities
Students need business and community support to develop these skills

Education is now a community undertaking on many different levels
We need to provide students with mentors and role models …as early as possible to shape their development
In the U.S. there are 400,000 partnerships involving more than 7 million volunteers in our nation’s schools
We have a common goal… to better prepare our students
New Hampshire’s students need schools and businesses to work together more than ever before.
New Hampshire high school students need to take more rigorous academic courses…
…if they are going to have the 21 st century skills needed for higher education and the workforce.
