1 Old Richmond Elementary School Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD) Participating Classes  Ms. Brown, 3 rd Grade  Ms. Markland, 3 rd Grade  Ms. Hatcher, 3 rd Grade  Ms. Plouff, 3 rd Grade  Ms. Jones, 2 nd Grade  Ms. Meadows, 5 th Grade  Ms. Strong, 4 th /5 th AIG

2 Roll out date: Start of Third Quarter – Jan. 21 December :  Parent Meeting: Dec. 4  Parent and student “homework” due by January 5 January:  Prepare students  Go over rules and expectations  Begin bringing devices on January 21 Technology is a tool to enhance learning, it does not DRIVE the learning or replace the teacher. Devices will not be used every day. Procedures will be set in place to let students know when devices will be active in class.

3 What are appropriate devices?  Smartphones  Old Smartphones  Laptops  IPads  IPod touch  Tablets  Kindle  Nook Must have Wi-Fi capability! Do not have to have 3G/4G.  Students will only be allowed to use the filtered WSFCS Public Wi-Fi and SHOULD NOT be using their data programs.  Students will be 100% responsible for their own devices.

4 Student Expectations  Students should bring devices to school fully charged.  Students must connect to and sign into our school’s Wi-Fi to access the Internet.  Students may only use devices during times as indicated by their teacher.  Students may not use devices outside the classroom (such as the bus, car line, cafeteria or recess).  Students are expected to follow school procedures and rules for BYOD or may lose the privilege of bringing a device to school.

5 APPS to download for use in class:  Kahoot.it (Android)  Front Row Math for Students (Android, iPad, not iPhone)  Tumblebooks (Android, Apple)  Brainpop (Android, Apple)  Evernote (Android, Apple)  Khan Academy (Android, Apple)  Quizlet (Android, Apple)  Google Chrome (Android, Apple)  QR Code Scanner (Android, Apple)  Please download these apps in preparation of our roll out date.  These are free educational apps.  Some are not available on all platforms but are able to be used through a web browser.
