1  Why?

2 Bob Marley’s music was created for a universal audience. His powerful work was meant for all ethnicities, and was not restricted to the Jamaican reggae fans like most of the similar music at the time.

3 Bob Marley’s message was simple and secular. His lyrics were mostly based upon the teachings of Rastafari. He believed in peace among all races/ethnicities, and freedom from oppression by “Babylon” or the West. “Me only have one ambition, y'know. I only have one thing I really like to see happen. I like to see mankind live together - black, white, Chinese, everyone - that's all.”

4 Marley’s influences included all types of groups, including: - Joe Higgs -The Skatalites -Clement "Sir Coxsone" Dodd -The Maytals -Lee "Scratch" Perry -Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions -James Brown
