The Need For PI Duke Energy generates a significant amount of “real-time” (time-series) data in its daily operations. Data is used for numerous work activities throughout the generation, transmission, and distribution work processes. The Need For PI Sources of data: Transmission’s Energy Management System (EMS) Plant Distributed Control Systems (DCS) Distribution Automation Equipment Automated Meters Manual Input Data Is produced 24 X 7. Currently collecting data on hundreds of thousands of data points. Availability of data provides opportunity to enhance and automate business process activities.
