LOS NEGATIVOS NEGATIVES
2
NEGATIVOS To make a sentence negative in Spanish, you put no in front of the verb or expression, whereas in English, we use not. Por ejemplo: – No me gusta cantar. – I do not like to sing.
3
NEGATIVOS To answer a question negatively in Spanish, many times you’ll use no twice. The first no answers the question; the second no says, “I do not (don’t)…”. This is very similar to English. Por ejemplo: ¿Te gusta escribir cuentos?Do you like to write stories? No, no me gusta. No, I do not/don’t.
4
NEGATIVOS In Spanish, you might use one or more negatives after answering “no”. There is not a double negative rule like in English. Por ejemplo: ¿Te gusta cantar?Do you like to sing? No, no me gusta nada. No, I don’t like it at all.
5
NEGATIVOS If you want to say that you do not like either of two choices, use ni…ni: Por ejemplo: – No me gusta ni bailar ni dibujar. – I don’t like either dancing or drawing. – or – – I like neither dancing nor drawing.
6
¡Te toca a tí! I don’t like to swim. – No me gusta nadar. I do not like to play videogames at all. – No me gusta nada jugar videojuegos. I don’t like either singing or dancing. – No me gusta ni cantar ni bailar. No, I don’t like to ski. – No, no me gusta esquiar. No, I don’t like to write stories at all. – No, no me gusta nada escribir cuentos.
