11 Having looked at all the slides so far, what rules would you follow for the use of “A, AN & THE” ? RULES: “ A” is used for any general object/person/place/animal e.g I have a pencil. That is a dog. He lives in a city. Mr. Modi is a doctor. “An” is used when the word begins with a vowel e.g. An owl is sitting on the tree. He is riding an elephant. Are you eating an egg? “The” is used when we are referring to something/someone special e.g. Have you seen the Taj Mahal? The postman who delivers letters to my house is ill. The Qutb Minar is a very old monument.
