The course title is formally called CUF30107 Certificate III in Media The course title is formally called CUF30107 Certificate III in Media It has 8 units at Unit 1 & 2 level (2009) It has 8 units at Unit 1 & 2 level (2009) It has 6 units at Unit 3 & 4 level (2010) It has 6 units at Unit 3 & 4 level (2010) If all units achieved with competency, students will receive their Cert III in Media. Unit 3 & 4 assessment tasks and exam will Unit 3 & 4 assessment tasks and exam will deliver study score, like other VCE subjects

3 The plan… The great thing about this course is the level of customisation. We can choose a lot of what suits our interests (and equipment capacity). In Year 11 2009 the focus will be on getting skills, and then in Year 12 you’ll only receive small reminders about them, and concentrate on larger projects.

17 Our first unit? The first unit that we will start on is BSBOHS201A - Participate in OHS processes. It can be continued over the holidays and you’ll have completed most of it by the start of 2009, freeing up valuable time for other units.

18 WorkSafe Victoria WorkSafe VictoriaWorkSafe Victoria is a comprehensive site detailing what the OHS Act 2004 covers, and implications for office workers is a discoverable section. WorkSafe Victoria Go to the website, click on the Safety & Prevention tab and then choose Health & Safety topics. From the drop down list, choose Educating the Next Generation.

19 In the Teaching OHS in School column, choose OHS for Work Experience Students.

20 You’ll be taken to the Safe@work page… The ‘Student and Teacher guide’ links aren’t working, but the remainder do. The ones you need are the General Module, which covers generic OHS issues common to all workers, then in the Industry Module, you’d choose the most appropriate one. In our case, it’s ‘Office and Business Services’. Offices seem safe enough… or are they?

21 During the holidays, read and complete all relevant modules. Then when we return in 2009, we take the test online (under test conditions – no workbook) and 75% and above is a pass. The certificate is then printed out, endorsed by our careers teacher and then you can use it when on Work Experience to show you are competent in OHS procedures. Feel free to take the test prior to our first official class, but only the test taken in class is endorsed.
