Items to consider while contracting an OJT Has your Local Board developed an Employer Evaluation which will determine if the employer has relocated and brings with it potential pitfalls and if there will be any problems with participant retention? Is the employee earning a self-sufficient wage as determined by the Local Board? Will the employer be able to provide OJT participants with continued long-term employment including wages, benefits, and working conditions equal to its other employees? Has the Local Board established a time limit required for a participant to become proficient in the occupation for which the training is being provided?
Conclusion WIA 11 will continue to work on OJTs as a means for providing participants with training opportunities which will lead to long term employment and self sufficiency. WIA 11 will also consider further job training possibilities including Customized, Incumbent and other related job training opportunities.
