7. Strengths of the School
• Behaviour is good in class and around the school. Pupils enjoy taking an active part in the life of the school and like to be actively involved in lessons and work hard.
• Imaginative teaching and some outstanding practice and provision in Reception.
• Majority of teaching is at least good
• Pupils achieve well in Key Stage 1 and standards were above average in reading, writing and maths in 2013 and more pupils reached the higher standards than in other schools.
• Reading is taught well, the proportion of pupils reaching the required standard in Year 1 was well above average.
• Majority of pupils make good or better progress
• The curriculum builds on pupils’ interests and is enriched with a good range of visits and visitors
• The school has shown it has the capacity to improve further as it strives to make sure all pupils have an equal chance to succeed.

1 To continue to raise standards, attainment and progress in Literacy, especially in writing

3 To monitor pupil progress, identify underachieving individuals and groups and target teaching to raise standards of achievement
