Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Life by Devin and Carter
The Beginning Martin was born in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15, 1929. Martin’s family called him ML. When he was six his friends mom said, ‘’ You can ‘t play with my sons anymore because you are colored and we are white.’’ Afterwards Martin ran home crying.
School Days Martin graduated two years early from high school. Martin earned a degree at Boston University in 1955. Martin studied to be a minister in college. Later on Martin got a job in Montgomery, Alabama. He was a minister.
I Have A Dream Speech Martin gave a important speech in Washington, D.C. on the day of August 28, 1963. Martin spent all night preparing for his speech. Martin said in his speech that, ‘’My four children will grow up to play with white people.”
Changed Unfair Laws Martin believed in rights for black people. Martin marched against the unfair laws. Martin tried to change many unfair laws and often succeeded.
How And When He Died James Earl Ray shot Martin when he was outside his motel room. Martin was killed in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. James Earl Ray shot him because there was a 30,000 dollar prize to whoever could kill him.
