2 The 4 Ps  Problems  Publics  Products  Plan!  can be adopted by media houses in coming up with communication strategy

3 4Ps – Identify and Prioritise:  Problems – internal, external communication  Publics – fishermen, political activists, editors, sales/general managers  Product – promos, radio/TV products, events  Plan – Opportunities, key dates, newspegs – e.g. Earth Day, World Env. Day, paid supplements

4 Problems  Problems broken down into two themes:  Processes of Climate Change –Mechanics of GCC, science of GCC  Impacts of Climate Change - Sea level rise, global warming etc. - Sea level rise, global warming etc.

5 Problems: processes  Fossil fuel burning link to CO 2 and GhG  Greenhouse effect: What is it?  Global warming  Sea-level rise  Rainfall levels  Extreme weather  Human impact  450 ppm – the ‘magic’ number

6 Impacts: local story  Sea-level rise & coastal erosion  Saline intrusion – effects  Economic: farming, food, prices, jobs  Habitat loss – mangrove stress/loss, fauna  Tourism – Impact of CC on tourism  Weather – Temperatures/El Nino, La Nina
