In some of the poems that we will soon read, the speaker both longs for those he/she loves, then prefers solitude. Think, pair, share: 1. What is the difference between loneliness and solitude? (If you’re struggling, consult a dictionary). 2. Is solitude important? Explain your response in a couple of sentences.

In your Interactive Readers, turn to page 159. On your own, quietly read selected poems of Li Po. Note: Read each poem 2-3 times (poetry always needs to be read multiple times to understand it).
