2. Academy Town Hall recommendations don’t sit on the shelf. We’re moving Oklahoma toward New Horizons by Moving Ideas Into Action. (Hey, that’s our motto after all!) Here’s a sampling of recommendations we’ve successfully implemented -

3. Health: Increased tax on tobacco products and passed the Youth Access to Tobacco Act Healthy options in school vending machines and increased PE for kids K-8 Community Action Initiatives: Fit Kids Coalition Certified Healthy Businesses & Communities

4. Education: Expanded the Academic Achievement Awards program Increased high school mentor programs to decrease drop-out rate Creation of Endowed Chairs Program Charter School expansion beyond metro areas

5. Environment &Sustainability: Enhanced clean air initiatives Encouraged state agencies to use Oklahoma green power/green tags; thus encouraging citizens to make use of renewable energy Eucha-Spavinaw Management Act Producer tax credits for value-added marketing and venture are now transferrable to state agencies

6. Energy & Alternative Energy: Continued funding of Oklahoma Wind Power Initiative Creation of the Oklahoma Renewable Energy Transmission Advisory Task Force Expanded federal tax credits to gas exploration and non-traditional fuel development Creation of the Oklahoma Bio-energy Center

7. Economic Development & Infrastructure: Enhanced telecommunications connectivity in rural areas of the state Creation of a municipal cost-share program to assist eligible communities and rural water districts in implementing conservation and best management practices
