1 American Abstract Expressionist Sculptor

2  Born on September 18, 1933 (79) in Shanghai, China.  Immigrated to San Francisco, California in 1941  University of California, Berkeley (1953-1957) with a BA in Philosophy.  Work has been exhibited in the US, France, The Netherlands, Italy, Spain, Germany, Australia, Japan and The United Kingdom.

3  Lifelong activist for peace and social justice.  Co-founded Park Place Gallery in 1962, the first artists’ cooperative in New York City.  Athena Foundation(1977), Assists artists in realizing their ambitions.

4  Started in construction, became injured in an elevator accident---became a paraplegic.  Pioneered using the crane for work.  Learned to use arc welder in rehab  Used scrap metal, tires and structural steel.  Exploration has lead to H-beams and steel plates.  Influenced by poetry, music and philosophy.
