8. S UMMARY OF THE CHAPTER 8 FLIES AND SPIDERS Bilbo and the Dwarves begin their journey through Mirkwood. Eventually they come across an enchanted stream, and Bilbo spots a boat on the other side; using rope and a hook they pull the boat to their side and use it to cross the stream. Bomber falls into the stream and the Dwarves pull him out to find that he has fallen into an enchanted sleep; Dwarves take turns carrying him.
