2 Nouns A noun is a person, place, thing or idea. Nouns are the subject of the sentence.  Examples: 1.Matt is a pro-golfer. 2.The bakery has fresh baked cookies. 3.Children were playing outside.

3 Types of Nouns  Proper A noun that names a specific person, place or thing.  She walked across the Purple People Bridge.  Common A noun that does not name a specific person place or thing  Christopher cut the grass.

4 Pronouns o Pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun.  Examples 1.I sing loudly in the shower. 2.Everybody in the class is wearing a Halloween shirt. 3.My mom made sugar cookies.

5 Adjective o An adjective is a word that describes a noun or a pronoun  Example 1.Sarah has curly hair.

6 Verb o Verb is the action of the sentence. It shows what someone or something is doing runthrow paint

7 Adverb o Adverb describes how the action is performed.  Examples: 1.The fished jumped quickly from the water. 2.The man sat alone.
