What is an adjective ? It´s a word that gives information about a noun. A noun is the name of a person, thing or animal.
What kind of student ? How many students ? An outstanding student A dedicated student A bright student A lazy student A student Two students Some students Many students They answer the questions what kind? or how many ?
Degrees of adjectives There are three degrees : - Positive : The car is fast. (no comparison here) Comparative: My car is faster than yours.(for comparing two nouns ) -Superlative: My car is the fastest of all (for comparing three or more nouns )
- Add the suffix –er to one-syllable adjectives Examples: tall taller low lower smart smarter - Add the suffix –er to two -syllable adjectives ending with ´y´. But first drop the ´y´, change it to ´i´ and then add –er. Examples: busy busier angry angrier easy easier -Comparative degree
