© International Baccalaureate Organization 2007 Supporting your IB student The focus of each year of school has been… More student independence Less parental involvement Page 9

© International Baccalaureate Organization 2007 Page 12 How to deal with marks IB is NOT the same old evaluation Teachers will communicate how students can raise their IB scores in tests, assignments, other assessments Students must figure out this NEW way of “scoring” Final IB scores in a subject are NOT just a cumulative set of scores We are working towards a “7” over the course of 2 years
© International Baccalaureate Organization 2007 What if the marks are not what we expect Compare first year university to first year IB There needs to be an adjustment period Students can continue to move higher in their scores as they continue with the IB programme Are we seeing differences in their WAY they are doing things We are DEVELOPING the attributes of the Learner Profile
© International Baccalaureate Organization 2007 Healthy Habits Sleeping at Night (so they don’t sleep during class) Eating Healthy Foods Managing Stress by: Following routines Setting timelines that are reasonable Controlling circumstances that are in their control
