16. Jefferson County, NY Drug Overdose Deaths - Conclusions Since 2006, drug overdose deaths are on a significant rise. More males than females are overdosing. Primary age group impacted between 21 and 60. Male impact peaks at the 21-30 age spectrum, while female impact peaks at a 41-50 age bracket. Drug overdoses in males are predominantly accidental. Females use drug overdose as a means of suicide more than males.

17. Jefferson County, NY Drug Overdose Deaths - Conclusions May, September, and January (in that order) are the leading months of death activity so far. Female deaths appear most active in May and September. Male deaths occur more regularly. Most deaths are occurring in the City of Watertown. Most deaths are occurring at people’s homes. Civilian deaths far outnumber military.

18. Jefferson County, NY Drug Overdose Deaths - Conclusions The majority of overdose deaths are accidental. Opioids are the leading cause of overdose deaths.
