5 Home Depot The Home Depot is the worlds largest chain of home improvement stores. It was started in 1978 by entrepreneurs named Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank. Marcus and Blank wanted their store to sell everything a person might need for a project. Operating on a large scale allows prices to be low. Store employees are trained experts in home improvement. Arthur Blank owns 90% of the Atlanta Falcons. Bernie Marcus donated $250 million to start the Georgia Aquarium.

8 Georgia- Pacific Owen R. Cheatham- Atlanta Georgia-Pacific is one of the worlds top producers of tissue, pulp, paper, packaging, and building goods. Owen R. Cheatham started the company in 1927 as a small lumber mill. He took the risk to expand his mill into a larger business. By 1938, the company was running 5 lumberyards in the South. In 1947, the company bought a lumber mill on the Pacific Coast. The company is still very successful.

9 Transportation in Georgia Delta Airlines is one of the largest airlines in the country. The company was started by an entrepreneur named Collett E. Woolman. The company began as a crop dusting service in the 1920s and quickly expanded to offer passenger and mail services. By1929, Woolman had 3 planes and started flying passengers between Texas and Mississippi. Now Delta flies passengers all over the world.

10 Hartsfield Jackson Airport Busiest airport in the world! On an average day the airport handles more than 2500 flights and more than 250,000 passengers.

11 Lockheed-Martin Marietta Formerly called Bell Bomber Plant Built planes for WWII and Korean War. By 1969, had a peak workforce of 32,945. Was the reason for a lot of Cobb Countys growth.
