ir ir a + infinitive ir a + place ir = to go
Ir is an irregular verb. It does not follow the rules. We will be using it as: ir a + infinitive ir a + place

Infinitive – the parent verb; a verb that has not been conjugated
example: bailar, ser, estar Conjugation – a form of the verb example: soy, eres, es, somos, son

ir = to go (yo) voy (nosotros) vamos (tú) vas él ella va ud. ellos
ellas van uds.

ir + a + infinitive Ir + a + verb (in the infinitive form) = going to do something Examples: Yo voy a estudiar. = I am going to study. Usted va a cantar. = You are going to sing. Ellos van a caminar. = They are going to walk.

Partner Practice I am going to listen. Yo voy a escuchar.
We are going to dance. Nosotros vamos a bailar. Y’all are going to buy a book. Uds. van a comprar un libro. They (boys) are going to talk. Ellos van a hablar. Are you going to leave? ¿Vas a salir tú?
