1 Local kids doing great things! Purgatory Snowboard Team What is the Durango Winter Sports Foundation?

2 DWSF is more than a ski and snowboard club. Its a training tool for tomorrow; teaching kids disciplines and values that will last a lifetime. Our Mission Help young athletes achieve great things in skiing and snowboarding Develop athletes who are ethical, respectful, and disciplined individuals Provide financial aid to athletes Provide financial support for coaches and coaching development Support our local ski areas: Durango Mountain Resort and Chapman Hill

3 Helping kids dreams come true is what were all about. Provide teams for all interests: Alpine, Freestyle, Nordic, and Snowboarding Keep costs low Host fundraising events Corporate and individual donor support How do we accomplish our Mission?

4 Since 2006, DWSF has disbursed over $321,000 to Durango community ski teams! And have provided more than $30,000 in scholarships! We want to do more! Join us and help keep a good thing growing!

5 Scholarships and Financial Aid Earn 20% of whatever sponsorships or ticket sales you produce Customize and download the individual sponsorship letter from the website and hand out to friends, family, and businesses Apply for scholarships by downloading the application off of the website DWSF does not want money to be the reason that a child can not pursue his/her dreams!

Jenna Mulligan, 3 silver medals at Junior Olympics & 7 th place finish in dual moguls 7 athletes qualified for JOs Natalie Lyon earned a bronze medal at JOs for aerials Shane Ellis won slope style at Rocky Mt. Devo State Champs. 16 medals brought home in the last 5 years from JOs Trudy Mickel earned a Silver medal at the Rocky Mt. Devo State Championships 54 Team members Southern Series Team Championships – 2 nd place 2 Junior Olympians 2 top 20 Junior Olympic finishes 4 Elite FIS Series Qualifiers Smartwool Championships – 2 Ability Class finishes J5 Festival/Finale – 3 Podium/Top 10 finishes 53 Team members Graduated 5 skiers Qualified 9 skiers to Junior Nationals in Minneapolis, MN 5 All American performances at JNs 2 nd place in Colorado Cup 2 team members on the World Champion Aero Space team for Durango High School 53 Team members Purgatory Snowboard Team Hosted 2 events at DMR with 38 participating athletes Will include an alpine team in the upcoming 2011-2012 season A fourth of the team attended 3 USASA events One member competed in 2 USASA Snowboard Cross events and attained a spot on the USASA Nationals competition Offers Alpine, Slope Style, Slalom, GS, and Snowboard Cross Youngest team member is 7 years old 13 Team members
