2 What will happen If you are registered – Find the room for your lab section (see Map – Slide 6) – Watch a safety video and complete safety quiz* – Note location of safety items – Check-in (See following slides) If you are on a wait list – Go to any room (see Map – Slide 6) – Watch a safety video and complete safety quiz* – Wait in Help Room (215) until available spaces (if any) are determined. Keep safety quiz*. – You will be called to check-in in priority order as spaces become available until all spaces are filled. * Safety quizzes will be collected during the second lab meeting 2RFS

3 The Check-in Procedure Objective of Check-in – To assign you a complete set of lab equipment for which you are henceforth re$ponsible (financially). After today, if you lose or break anything, you will be charged for the replacement. See the inventory list (Slide 7) What does complete mean? – All items exist and are in appropriate condition E.g., Glassware and ceramic-ware not stained or cracked Thermometer column continuous. Etc. – You will certify that you have received a complete set before you leave the lab. When you check-out at semester end, you must leave a complete set in your drawer. 3RFS

4 Detailed Check-in Procedure 1.TA will call you one by one. You will be assigned a drawer number and given an inventory sheet (see Slide 7) and a breakage card. Enter the desk number on the TAs roster and sign the roster. 2.Write your name and ID on both the sheet and card - legibly. Do not enter anything else on breakage card. 3.Find the assigned drawer, have it opened and check the desk inventory. Have TA initial missing items. Then, obtain replacement items from stockroom. Record your drawer number in a safe place. 4.When your inventory is complete, lock drawer, turn in inventory sheet and breakage card to your TA. Use your own lock if you have brought it. 5.Go home and prepare for the first exercise. 4RFS

5 For waitlisted students who are added to a section The Laboratory Coordinator will assign you to a room and a drawer number. Only the Coordinator can assign you! You will be given an inventory sheet and breakage card for the assigned drawer. Go to the indicated room. You, or the TA, must add your name and ID to the TAs roster and sign the roster. (legibly) – Please enter your name exactly as it appears in Solar. Proceed with the check-in procedure described on the preceding slide. 5 If you have been given permission to add, YOU must add yourself in Solar. RFS
