The Rest that Remaineth

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God Hebrews 4:9

Genesis 13:14-17; And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward: For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever. And I will make thy seed as the dust of the earth: so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then shall thy seed also be numbered. Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I will give it unto thee.

Genesis 22:17; That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;

Romans 4:13: For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

Exodus 3:14-15 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

Ezekiel 20:20; And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God

Psalm 111:4 He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered…

Exodus 31:17: "It is a sign between me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.",

Genesis 2:1-3 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and had made.

Isaiah 40:28; Hast thou not known? Hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? There is no searching of his understanding.

Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Deut 12:9-11 For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the Lord your God giveth you. But when ye go over Jordan, and dwell in the land which the Lord your God giveth you to inherit, and when he giveth you rest from all your enemies round about so that ye dwell in safety; then there shall be a place which the Lord your God shall choose to cause his name to dwell there

Joshua 21:41-44 And the LORD gave unto Israel all the land which he sware to give unto their fathers; and they possessed it, and dwelt therein. And the LORD gave them rest round about, according to all that he sware unto their fathers: and there stood not a man of all their enemies before them; the LORD delivered all their enemies into their hand.

Hebrews: 4:7-8 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, to day after so a long a time as it is said, today, if ye will hear is voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day

2Samuel 7:10: moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel and I will plant them that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime

Hebrews 11:39-40 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith received not the promise. God having provided some better thing for us. That they without us should not be made perfect

Hebrews 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it

Hebrews 4:3-6, 9-10 For we which have believed do enter into rest as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest; although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place, of the seventh day on this wise. And God did rest the seventh day from all his work. And in this place again, if they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein. And they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief. 9:There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest he also hath ceased from his own works as God did for his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief

Psalm 92:4-5 For thou Lord hast made me glad through thy work I will triumph in the work of thy hands. O Lord how great are thy works! And they thoughts are very deep.

Matthew 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Then the wicked saw what they had lost; and fire was breathed from God upon them and consumed them. This was the execution of the judgment. The wicked then received according as the saints, in unison with Jesus, had meted out to them during the one thousand years. The same fire from God that consumed the wicked purified the whole earth. The broken, ragged mountains melted with fervent heat, the atmosphere also, and all the stubble was consumed. Then our inheritance opened before us, glorious and beautiful, and we inherited the whole earth made new. We all shouted with a loud voice, "Glory; Alleluia!" Early Writings p54

How did God Manifest himself through Creation? Psalms 33:6: By the word of the Lord were the heavens made: and all the host of them by the Breath of his mouth; John 1:1-3 Hebrews 1:1-3 Hebrews 11:3- " Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

SABBATHCHRIST God created the seventh day, blessed and sanctified that day, signify God is our creator – Reminder that God is creator Believer finds Gods creative power in the Sabbath – Eph 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Sabbath is Gods rest, heb:4-5, Heb 3:11 - So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest Finds Gods rest, ceases from his own works. Math 11:28-30 God blessed the Sabbath day Gen 2:3: And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Gods blessing through Christ to turn us from inquity. Acts 3:26 : Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities. God hallowed that day, (Gods presence that makes something holy) Moses. Joshua God makes us holy. Col 1:27 God sanctified this holy day, set it apart that his presence may abide there (Exodus 29:43-46: And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory Christs abiding dwelling presence, 1 John 4:15, Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God temple of God to dwell in. 2 Corin 6:16

Well, then, you see at every step of the way, every line of thought, brings us only face to face with that, that the Sabbath as it is in Jesus Christ, and as the believer in Jesus observes it, that alone is the seal of the living God. Saturday keeping is not the seal of God. Christ as He is reflected in the Sabbath of the Lord, through the Sabbath of the Lord, and in it, in the mind and heart of the believer, in the living image of God completed--that is the seal of the living God. Then there is written in the foreheads of that people the name of the Father. AT Jones Sermon 20

Ezekiel 20:11-13 And I gave them my statutes and shewed them my judgements which if a man do, he shall even live in them. Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths to be a sign between me and them that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes and they despised my judgements which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said I will pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness to consume them.

2 Thes 2:4 who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Daniel 8:25: He shall also stand up against the prince of princes

A beast in prophecy symbolizes a king or a kingdom. This is clearly taught in Dan 7:17,23: "These great beasts are four kings.... The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth..."

The Church Transferred Sabbath Observance to Keeping Sunday Holy as the Lord's Day: The Church, on the other hand, after changing the day of rest from the Jewish Sabbath, or seventh day of the week, to the first, made the Third Commandment refer to Sunday as the day to be kept holy as the Lord's Day. The Council of Trent (Sess. VI, can. xix) condemns those who deny that the Ten Commandments are binding on Christians. 34 "But since Saturday, not Sunday, is specified in the Bible, isn't it curious that non-Catholics who profess to take their religion directly from the Bible and not the Church, observe Sunday instead of Saturday? Yes, of course, it is inconsistent; but this change was made about fifteen centuries before Protestantism was born, and by that time the custom was universally observed. They have continued the custom, even though it rests upon the authority of the Catholic Church and not upon an explicit text in the Bible. That observance remains as a reminder of the Mother Church from which the non-Catholic sects broke away - like a boy running away from home but still carrying in his pocket a picture of his mother or a lock of her hair." 41 And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest's office. And they shall take gold, and BLUE, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen. And they shall make the ephod of gold, of BLUE, and of purple, of scarlet, and fine twined linen, with cunning work. It shall have the two shoulder pieces thereof joined at the two edges thereof; and so it shall be joined together. And the curious girdle of the ephod, which is upon it, shall be of the same, according to the work thereof; even of gold, of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen Exo 28:3-8

Exo 28:31; And thou shalt make the robe of the ephod all of blue Num 15:38; Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: Num 15:39 And it shall be unto you for a fringe, THAT YE MAY LOOK UPON IT, AND REMEMBER ALL THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD, AND DO THEM; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:

Thomaston, Georgia May 22, 1954 Pope Pius XII Rome, Italy Dear Sir; Is the accusation true, that Protestants accuse you of? They say you changed the Seventh Day Sabbath to the, so-called, Christian Sunday: Identical with the First Day of the week. If so, when did you make the change, and by what authority? Yours very truly, J. L. Day

The Reply: THE CATHOLIC EXTENSION MAGAZINE 180 Wabash Ave., Chicago, Illinois (Under the Blessing of Pop Pius XII) Dear sir: Regarding the change from the observance of the Jewish Sabbath to the Christian Sunday, I wish to draw your attention to the facts: (1) That Protestants, who accept the Bible as the only rule of faith and religion, should by all means go back to the observance of the Sabbath. The fact that they do not, but on the contrary observe Sunday, stultifies them in the eyes of every thinking man.

2) We Catholics do not accept the Bible as the only rule of faith. Besides the Bible we have the living Church, the authority of the Church, as a rule to guide us. We say, this Church instituted by Christ, to teach and guide men through life, has the right to change the Ceremonial laws of the Old Testament and hence, we accept her change of the Sabbath to Sunday. We frankly say, "yes, the Church made this change, made this law, as she made many other laws, for instance, the Friday Abstinence, the unmarried priesthood, the laws concerning mixed marriages, the regulation of Catholic marriages, and a thousand other laws.

(3) We also say that of all Protestants, the Seventh-day Adventists are the only group that reason correctly and are consistent with their teachings. It is always somewhat laughable to see the Protestant Churches, in pulpit and legislature, demand the observance of Sundays of which there is nothing in the Bible. With best wishes Peter R. Tramer, Edito

Revelation 14:9-10 If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, the same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation.
