Distinctions Between Moral Law and Ceremonial Law

2 PETER 3:15,16

15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Moral Law (10 COMMANDMENTS) IT IS CALLED THE ROYAL LAW James 2:8-12 - If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one [point], he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. IT IS CALLED THE LAW CONTAINED IN ORDINANCES Eph 2:15 - Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, [even] the law of commandments [contained] in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, [so] making peace; Ceremonial Law

MORAL LAW GOD SPOKE IT Deut 4:12,13 And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice. And He declared unto you His covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone. MOSES SPOKE IT Lev 1:1-3 And the LORD called unto Moses, and spoke unto him out of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the herd, and of the flock. If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD. CEREMONIAL LAW

MORAL LAW CEREMONIAL LAW THEY STAND FOREVER Psa 111:7,8 - The works of His hands are verity and judgment; all His commandments are sure. They stand fast for ever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness. THEY WERE NAILED TO THE CROSS Col 2:14 - Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to His cross;

Moral Law Ceremonial Law THEY ARE PLACED INSIDE THE ARK Exodus 40:20 And He took and put the testimony into the ark, and set the staves on the ark, and put the mercy seat above upon the ark THEY ARE PLACED BY THE SIDE OF THE ARK Deut 31:24-26 And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished, That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying, Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

Moral law Ceremonial law JESUS CONFIRMS IT Matt 5:17,18 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittles shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. JESUS ABOLISHED IT Eph 2:15 - Having abolished in His flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in Himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Moral law Ceremonial Law THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH MAINTAINED IT Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH ACCEPTED THAT CHRIST DEATH BROUGHT IT TO AN END Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Moral law Ceremonial law THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH MAINTAINED IT James 2:10-12 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. THE APOSTOLIC CHURCH ACCEPTED THAT CHRIST DEATH BROUGHT IT TO AN END Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

STANDARD OF JUDGEMENT Rom 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

THE LAW POINTS TO SIN Gal 3:20 Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

MORAL LAW For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. Heb 4:4, 9-11

Moral Law For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. Isa 66:22-23

Moral Law For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book Rev 22:18-19

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Hebrews 2:3 3 How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;
