4 Using the Enterprise Skills Story  The Enterprise Skills Story is featured in the Enterprise Skills Portfolio and there are activities for each of the slides  It is suggested that you also print out poster size copies of the Enterprise Skills Story and display them in your classroom

5  The following slides illustrate the Enterprise Skills Story  The Enterprise Attributes are shown for each component of the Story  A description of how these skills can be demonstrated follows each of the Enterprise Attributes  These provide practical information to support students to be active in demonstrating enterprise skills

6 I demonstrate this skill when I:  Can get onto tasks quickly  Can complete my work on time  Am interested and enthusiastic about learning activities  Identify things that need to be done and get on with it Using Initiative and Drive This attribute describes a person who: sets directions for own learning demonstrates independence and initiative has the drive to achieve personal and community goals

7 I demonstrate this skill when I:  Think of new ways of doing things  Find interesting ways of solving problems  Determine the consequences of actions and ways of doing things  Come up with new and interesting ideas Being creative and innovative This attribute describes a person who: uses creative thinking and strategies identifies interactions and issues that require solutions applies lateral thinking and innovative solutions to issues and problems

8 Being positive and flexible This attribute describes a person who:  shows motivation, commitment and enthusiasm for learning  demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in learning situations.  is optimistic and confident in new learning situations I demonstrate this skill when I:  Like learning about new things  Can change my ways of thinking and doing things to fit in with others  Feel confident and happy about doing new things  Am willing to listen to others’ ideas and issues

9 Making decisions and solving problems This attribute describes a person who: takes responsibility for their personal actions identifies, develops and practices a variety of problem solving techniques and approaches demonstrates decision making skills to resolve issues I demonstrate this skill when I:  Take responsibility for my actions  Recognise issues or situations that may lead to problems  Think of alternative approaches before deciding on a solution  Question the usefulness of different views  Can make up my mind when I have all of the information I need

10 Planning and organising This attribute describes a person who: sets goals for learning activities plans and organises learning activities completes agreed learning activities to specified standards shares tasks, responsibilities and outcomes I demonstrate this skill when I:  Provide leadership for others  Work our what needs to be done  Make plans to achieve what needs to be done  Plan what resources are needed  Plan a budget

11 Communicating and negotiating This attribute describes a person who: communicates effectively with others uses persuasion effectively to present an argument listens actively to others to determine their views deals with conflict and negotiates solutions I demonstrate this skill when I:  Negotiate ideas and issues with others  Negotiate activities/tasks with others  Work out what I need to present  Work with others to solve problems  Create a presentation suited to the audience  Present information in appropriate ways

12 Managing resources and people This attribute describes a person who: shows leadership to manage the resources and people assesses the importance of competing priorities in achieving goals negotiates appropriately and effectively reflects on actions to assess their impact I demonstrate this skill when I:  Make plans based on the resources needed  Make plans based on the people needed for tasks  Determine the best approach to achieve success  Show leadership in working with others

13 Working cooperatively This attribute describes a person who: uses teamwork to achieve personal and shared goals works collaboratively with others interacts constructively with others accepts different attitudes, approaches and people I demonstrate this skill when I:  Reach agreement with others  Complete my work as part of the group tasks  Work constructively with others even though they might have different views or approaches, or be different to me  Share the work (good and not so good) with others

14 Reviewing and assessing This attribute describes a person who: evaluates feedback and respond appropriately monitors, organises and analyses information evaluates the positive and negatives in situations and responds accordingly I demonstrate this skill when I:  Determine ways to measure improvement or success  Help to decide how I will be assessed  Evaluate the results of my work  Help others evaluate their work
