4 Unit Exams (30%) 4 exams including a non-comprehensive final
30-35 multiple choice questions- No Makeups Lowest grade will be dropped You may use a review sheet for those exams (read about the requirements on the Eagle Online and on the syllabus) DO NOT WRITE ON THE EXAM BOOKLET

5 Assignments 20% 1 assignment “Critical Thinking Essay” 1 Presentation
Complete instructions and grading criteria posted in Syllabus and on canvas/eagle online. Assignments are due online/canvas, due dates are on the course schedule found on canvas, as well as the learning web. Remember Late work is not accepted!!

6 Quizzes and Discussion (20%)
Syllabus quiz, you must score a 100 5 content quizzes to be completed and submitted online 1 discussion (introducing yourself) (worth 50 points) Due dates are non-negotiable

7 Participation (10%) Your participation is expected and required! Class participation is awarded based on your contribution to class discussion. You are responsible for doing the reading in advance of class, and taking an active role in class activities and discussion To facilitate ease, discussions will also vary in format (e.g., small group discussion, activities, classroom demonstrations). Be on time for class (I will take attendance 10 minutes after class begins, you will be considered absent if you show up to class afterwards. You are welcome to stay in class but you will be considered absent for that day.

9 Class Rules Smart phone use is a distraction to your fellow students and instructors, therefore smart phone use is NOT permitted during class, unless indicated by instructor, the following will occur if you use your cell phone: First warning: private warning Second warning: you will lose the opportunity to gain any bonus points during the semester You will be asked to leave class. Do not change your seat. Laptop use is only for note taking.

11 Group activity Find the person who has the same candy type
Introduce yourselves to each other: Name Major List some Pet Peeves about instructors- talk about it and then write it down and hand it out to me- do not put your name on it Play the would you rather game in the next slide!

12 Ice Breaker-Would you rather?
Receive a lifetime supply of meals from your favorite restaurant or receive free gasoline? Have a photographic memory or be able to totally forget everything you want? Would you rather give a public speech or hold a snake? Drive a nice car or have a gorgeous home?

13 Who Am I/What Am I game I will place nametags on the upper back of each player. Once everyone has a nametag on their back, explain the rules to everyone: each person must try to figure out which famous person that they are, only asking “Yes” or “No” questions to gain clues about the name that is on their back. For example, a player can ask questions like: “Am I a person/ or a disorder? Am an athlete?” “Am I a female?” “Am I a young person?” and so on. “ “Am I a rare disorder?” Let’s Play!!!
