Say what you really think about issues Anyone aged 13 or over can join Use Facebook, Twitter or the app Get a new question every week and see what others think with live results online Run by Unicef, the world’s largest children’s organisation U-Report is an anonymous messaging service that lets you and your friends speak out on issues that matter. Sign up by text or Twitter and we'll send you a new question every week. What’s your opinion? Share it with us then watch live results to see what young people around the country are thinking on the U-Report UK website. Your voice matters! U-Report is run by Unicef UK, the world’s largest children’s organisation. It’s free, easy to use, and completely anonymous – so you can say what you really think. Anyone aged 13 or over can join U-Report. By doing so you’ll be adding your voice to that of over2 million U-Reporters around the world. As we pilot U-Report in the UK, we want your help to shape and develop the questions we ask. The answers and information you give us will be used by Unicef UK to make sure your voice is heard by people who make decisions that affect you, for example the Prime Minister or local authorities.

3 RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE You have the right to express opinions and be heard by decision-makers, as laid out in Articles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child Article 12 – respect for the views of the child Article 13 - freedom of expression The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which underpins all of Unicef’s work, states that children and young people have the right to express their opinions and be heard. In particular, Article 12 states that when adults are making decisions that affect children, children have the right to say what they think should happen and have their opinions taken into account. Article 13 says you have freedom of expression and states that children have the right to get and share information, as long as the information is not damaging to them or others. In the UK, young people’s participation in political and social dialogue is particularly low compared with other European countries and many of you feel you aren’t listened to. U-Report UK wants to change this. We want to give you an opportunity to speak out on issues you care about, the chance to hold authorities to account and create social change.

4 WHY SHOULD YOU JOIN? Join over 2 million other young people around the world Use your voice to bring about positive change Have your say on local and global issues, and suggest questions you would like to ask Join a global community of over 2 million U-Reporters around the world. The more people that speak up, the louder young people’s voices can be. As we pilot U-Report in the UK, we want your help to shape and develop the questions we ask. The answers and information you give us will be used by Unicef UK to make sure your voice is heard by people who make decisions that affect you, for example the Prime Minister or local authorities. Over time, we hope to be able to give young people a chance to set the question topic on U-Report, and then campaign independently using the responses.

5 GLOBAL POLL ON BULLYING
*Results will be presented in a report at the UN Summit in September* This example shows how U-Reporters can contribute to change at a global scale. In April 2016 U-Reporters were asked to participate in a report that the Secretary-General will be submitting to the UN General Assembly in September, on “Protecting children from bullying”. Children and young people were asked to share their views, opinions and experiences of on bullying, and solutions for the UN to take into consideration at the high level meeting in September.
