Takes place when we listen in order to look for flaws in the other person’s point of view and to plan our comeback strategy. When we do this, we are mostly interested in advancing out point of view. Passive listening Takes place when we try to hear the other person’s point of view. However, we do not provide feedback to verify whether or not we have understood the message. Active listening Is when we provide feedback to verify whether or not we have understood the sender. In order to be an active listener, you need to rephrase what someone says back to them to confirm that you’d understood.
