8. We will continue to make use of the ‘Going for Gold’ chart which the pupils are already familiar with to promote good behavior in class.
Additionally, each week a pupil will be chosen as ‘Star of the Week’ and have their achievement celebrated in assembly.
Should a pupil’s behavior consistently fall below the expected standard we will contact parents directly to discuss and plan a better way forward together.

10. Home Reading Pupils are expected to read regularly at home
We would hope for at least 10mins per day.
Pupils have access to books from school, but may also use their own.
The children will be visiting the school library once a week where they can choose 2 books to share with you at home.
What they have been reading should be recorded in their journals. Reading home learning is set each week and this is to be completed in their reading journals as well.
Reading at home is best done with you
Talking about reading is the best way to learn about reading.

11. Home Learning Set at the end of each week. So usually on Fridays

This year the school is revising it’s home learning policy and more information will be given about this once the changes are confirmed by the school governors.

16. WHY DO THE KS1 Tests Happen?
The final end of year assessment for pupils in Year 2 will be a teacher assessment.
The test results will help inform that assessment, but they are only part of the final decision.
The test results are reported to the local authority as part of the package of information they use to assess schools.

17. The Year 2 pupils will sit their tests in the final two weeks of May.
Between then and now we will be helping them get used to the format and conditions of the tests.
We will be arranging for pupils to sit the tests in the conditions they will find most helpful.
We will continue to teach a range of subjects, not just ‘test prep’!
