1 introduction TO MOVEMENT TO WORK
This slide deck introduces what Movement to Work is all about and how to get involved. If you have any questions about delivering this presentation, please contact the Core Team through introduction TO MOVEMENT TO WORK

2 The UK’S LEADING EMPLOYERS are coming together TO HELP
Movement to Work is a collaboration of employers who have come together to tackle the issue of youth unemployment. Employers who join Movement to Work come from a range of sectors, sizes and types of employers but all have committed to supporting young people who are NEET in their steps to work. By working together Movement to Work employers are able to demonstrate their collective impact on the issue, learn from, share and challenge one another to do more.

3 Our vision Together, Movement to Work employers aims to support 100,000 unemployed young people, giving them the skills and confidence to find a job. Movement to Work aspires to support 50% of the young people completing placements into paid employment, apprenticeships or further study Movement to Work employers are committed to taking action at scale aiming to offer high quality training and work experience placements equivalent to around 1% of their UK workforce Member employers will engage with their own suppliers / partners to form the supply chain cascade By each Movement to Work employer providing these opportunities for young people who are NEET we will be able to change thousands of lives. We have a collective vision to support 100,000 unemployed young people and support 50% of those young people into a positive outcome. We can achieve this by working collaboratively, where one employer is able to offer placements, and another has vacancies to fill, we can collectively provide great outcomes for young people. We will do this by individually taking action at scale, aiming to offer Movement to Work opportunities equivalent to around 1% of our UK workforces.

4 What we do Offer 4-6 weeks of training and work experience to year old NEETS (not in employment, education or training) Where possible, placements will be linked to jobs or apprenticeships Working in partnership with various delivery partners to match young people to the right roles Movement to Work employers offer short interventions – roughly 4-6 week opportunities (these may be slightly longer or shorter depending on what is most appropriate for the sector) To try to ensure the best possible outcome for the young people, placements are – where possible – linked to jobs or apprenticeships By working with delivery partners such as The Prince’s Trust, Jobcentre Plus or others, employers are able to find candidates that match the organisation’s values, and make sure the young people are given the ongoing support they need to be successful.

5 And we are gaining momentum…
13,000 young people trained 2013 2014 2015 Record youth unemployment Riots Movement to Work launches Delivery partners on board First employers come on board Government backs the campaign Trades Unions support the campaign More employers are invited to join CBI endorse the Movement The concept of Movement to Work began following record levels of youth unemployment. Some employers were delivering initiatives that tackled the issue – Marc Bolland (M&S CEO) and a number of other CEOs decided that if they worked collectively they could have a much greater impact on this issue. In 2013 Movement to Work launched with 15 founding employers from a range of sectors. Movement to Work received support from various ministers including the PM, and continued to gather momentum and endorsement from key bodies such as the TUC and UKCES. The Movement is growing and more employers joining, targeting more large UK employers who will in turn engage their supply chains and industries getting more and more employers involved. NOW IT IS YOUR TURN !
