2 Welcome! Introductions Pledges Missions of 4-H Tonight’s Agenda

3 Introductions Extension Educators Jr. Leaders Mini 4-Hers (stand up)
Mini 4-H Parents/Guardians (stand up)

4 Pledges American Pledge I pledge Allegiance, to the flag, of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

5 Pledges Continued 4-H Pledge I pledge my HEAD to clearer thinking, (point to head) My HEART to greater loyalty, (cover heart) My HANDS to larger service, (open hands) And my HEALTH to better living, (drop hands) For my club, my community, my country, and my world.

6 Missions of 4-H Science, Technology, Engineering, Math Healthy Living
4-H members are TWO times more likely to participate in Science, Engineering, and Computer technology programs during out-of-school time. Healthy Living 4-H members are TWO times more likely to make healthier choices. Citizenship 4-H members are FOUR times more likely to make contributions to their communities.

7 Tonight’s Mission: Exploring Mini 4-H
Up next… Mini 4-Hers are going with the Jr. Leaders to play some games! Parents are staying with me to learn more about Mini 4-H! THEN, everyone will participate in two activity stations where they will participate in two activities to take home! (Don’t worry parents, it’s minimal mess…)

8 Mini 4-H: 101 So your kid talked you into letting them join Mini 4-H. Just what does that mean? Find out here!

9 What is Mini 4-H? What is Mini 4-H? Mini 4-H is NON-COMPETITIVE!
Designed to encourage positive development of children. 1st – 2nd graders in Hendricks Co. Helps young children: Explore friendships Explore the way in which things work Practice both small and large muscle control Think about ways people work together Mini 4-H is NON-COMPETITIVE! Designed to encourage youth to find their interests! Mini 4-Hers may take 2 of any 15 projects offered.

10 What is required of Mini 4-Hers?
To Learn! To Have Fun! Each project Mini 4-Hers take has a workbook that goes with it! This workbook has activities and experiments they can complete to better understand their project. It even tells what they can create to exhibit at fair in July! Mini 4-H Days are ways to get Mini 4-Hers familiar with each other and the fairgrounds. We want kids to enjoy the projects they do! Work together with parents/friends/family!

11 What is required of Mini 4-H Parents/Guardians?
To Teach! To Learn! We hope that you will help your child as they go through their workbooks! Guide your 4-Her, but don’t do the project for them. STAY POSITIVE! Mini 4-H can be overwhelming to kids and parents! Take time to ask questions! Read your newsletters and mailings! Keep up to date on happenings for 4-Hers if possible. Social Media updates if you want!

12 What’s after sign up? Time to get going!
Get your project manuals (FREE!) either at the Extension Office or Online! We also have Mini 4-H Handbooks! Go through manuals with your Mini 4-Hers Decide on activities Start on projects

13 What happens once the project is finished?
Turn it in! CELEBRATE! You will bring your project to the Hendricks County 4-H Fair Saturday, July 16th, 3-5 p.m. Conference Rooms 1 & 2 Projects are “judged” with help of Jr. Leaders Congratulations! Visit your project at the Hendricks County 4-H Fair – July 17-23 You may pick up your project on July 23 from 9-10 a.m. Show off your hard work!
