Day –no school Nov. 4- Report cards home Nov. 10 – Remembrance Day Assembly-10:30 Nov. 11- no school Nov. 12- Parent/ Teacher/ Student Interview a.m. and p.m. Nov. 13- Parent Teacher Interviews a.m. Nov.16- PS1 Student begins- Mr. Sehn will teach 1/3 Nov. 23 or 24- Scientists in School visit (Light and Shadow) Nov. 25- Hot Lunch Report Cards will be sent home Friday, Nov. 6 th. Please sign and return the envelope by Nov.13 st. Please see school website for online booking system for scheduling interviews for Nov.12 th and 13 th. Sign up for interviews by clicking on the Parent Interview circle on right top corner of NS website. University Student Teachers: Mr. Dustin Sandau is an Ed2500 student in our classroom. Mr.Wyatt Sehn is a PS1 (Professional Semester 1) Mr.Sehn (Sane) will be teaching 1/3 of the teaching load, beginning on Nov. 16, while I evaluate and support his instruction and student learning. 2 Remembrance Day Assembly Tuesday, Nov.10 th at 10:30 a.m. Parents are welcome to attend. Leader in Me We are learning about habits 4, 5 and 6 this month. Please ask your child to tell you about these habits and explain their learning and behavior goals to you. Classroom Newsletter Learning Updates: SOCIAL: finishing our novel study “Fatty Legs.” We have discovered truths about Residential Schools and why it is important to study Canadian history and to Seek First to Understand the complexities of all cultures and ideals. WRITING: we will be learning to use VOICES (Voice, Organizations, Ideas, Conventions, Excellent Word Choice and Sentence Fluency) in our writing. We will continue writing poetry and focus on the theme of remembrance. MATH- we will continue to study place value and how it applies to addition and subtraction of 2 and 3 digit numbers. We will focus on solving real life problems and learn the important steps to effective problem solving. SCIENCE- we will begin to explore the concept of Light na dShadow. The Scientistis in ?School Program will set up centers in our room on Sept 24 Agendas and email: Please read and sign your child’s agenda everyday. 3 Classroom Newsletter Holiday News: The grade four team has decided not to continue with the tradition of building a gingerbread house. We will be announcing our holiday theme and activities in the near future. We will be enjoying a grade level activity day on December 16 th. Our Class Mission is written in a song (thanks to Lincoln): “We will. we will, lead you!” Leader, you’re a star makin’ big change Learning in the school, working hard all day! You’ve got love in your heart You’re havin’ fun Livin’ the habits all over the place Singin’ We will, we will, lead you! Thanks you to all the students that synergized in order to create our class mission statement. Tobacco Free Kids Presentation: University nursing students teach and present the following learning outcomes once a week for 5 weeks. Tobacco facts and nicotine addiction Chemicals in tobacco and the health consequences of tobacco use Reasons why people try tobacco, traditional use of tobacco compared to misuse Negative peer pressure and ways to refuse pressure to use tobacco
