2 Confucius Confucius was a philosopher that lived from 551 B.C. to 479 B.C. and was born in the Warring States Period. He wanted people to treat each other with respect and believed that the society of China could function best if everyone respected the laws and behaved well according to their positions. He made a huge impact on society even though his philosophy wasn’t recorded. After he died, his students made the book of Analects, which became a model for personal and official behavior.

3 Lao Zi (a.k.a. Lao Tzu) Lao Zi was a philosopher that founded Taoism (a.k.a. Daoism) Lived during the Spring and Autumn Period. Used Dao (meaning “The Way”) to explain all changes in the universe.

4 Su Wu Lived during the Spring and Autumn Period
He was a great military strategist Wrote the book “The Art of War” One of the earliest written books on military strategy It’s said to be read by Napoleon It’s still used today for commercial and sports competition and military affairs.

5 Wuwang He lead the western Zhou people to conquer the Shang Dynasty and develop the Zhou Dynasty. Ruled the Zhou Dynasty before he died.

6 Duke of Zhou Wuwang’s brother
Ruled the Zhou Dynasty for a short time for his nephew after Wuwang died Gave up throne to Wuwang’s son when he was old enough to rule.
