15 Supporting the Student Experience
[You see child look at his belly. Look at his neighbor.. Why isn’t my stomach bumpy? Yes! I ate protein for breakfast and mom says that gives me energy TEACHER: There is skin and muscle- so you don’t see your insides. TEACHER: Yes- food becomes energy through digestion. Your digestive system. Heard that word before 2 Skeletal like a skeleton. Like the bones on Halloween. COOL I like that system My head got bumped in soccer practice yesterday and I had a little red spot but now it’s gone. TEACHER: Our bodies are always working and active- to heal and grow. Your body was fixing your bump and you didn’t even know it! A circle in our body??. EngageNY.org 15

16 Look at Your Passage Again
6 Write in the Think, Feel, Wonder what you hope children are thinking, feeling, wondering throughout the passage you chose. Consider one thing you may do to help guide all students (or more students) to have the experience you envision. 2 EngageNY.org 16
