7 support from university ESCs need to be set at a high level at their university. Higher than the faculties. There should be a degree in European Studies. how to get support from university? good academic work (research, teaching) concentrate on your strengths

8 EC needs to be aware:... that ESCs have to compete within their university with other centres (American, Japanese, German, Australian, Environment etc.) for support. The competition is intensive. EC should support universities to ensure sustainability of ESCs there should be a two-way committment: ESCs to EC but also EC to the ECs... that employment opportunities of ES-graduates are limited. So the ESCs need continuing support in order to survive.... that it is difficult for the ESCs to recruit good scholars

9 EC needs to be aware:... that ESCs have to compete within their university with other centres (American, Japanese, German, Australian, Environment etc.) for support. The competition is intensive. EC should support universities to ensure sustainability of ESCs there should be a two-way committment: ESCs to EC but also EC to the ECs... that employment opportunities of ES-graduates are limited. So the ESCs need continuing support in order to survive.... that it is difficult for the ESCs to recruit good scholars Dr Hell: Very good employment opportunities of ES graduates of Chulalongkorn University Bangkok from 1992 till today, even during the financial crisis Prof Feng: employment opportunities in business: e.g.: China must make sure that EU intellectual property is well protected and government: including provincial governments
