2 Tablet Camp 2016 This presentation is designed to help students understand digital responsibilities and connect to digital tools and learning environments. Teachers, please assist students as they complete steps in each section. If students encounter a problem, please ensure students are typing the correct login information. If they continue to encounter a problem, please ask the student to submit a work order request. If the majority of your students cannot login or access programs, please move to the next section. Return to the skipped section later in Tablet Camp.

4 Section 4: ACTIVATE OFFICE If the majority of your students cannot activate Office, please move to the next section. Return to this section later in Tablet Camp.

5 Section 4: ACTIVATE OFFICE You will use the cloud-powered Office 365, so you must sign in to activate it. Click on the Windows button. Click on Word 2016 under Office Apps. OR Select the Search tool and type Word. Activate Office Slide 1 of 5

6 Section 4: ACTIVATE OFFICE Wait for the Activate Office screen to appear. Type in s + YOUR studentID credentials@kleinisd.net: ex: s123456@kleinisd.net Click the Next button. **This is not your email account. This is an account you must use to activate your Microsoft account. **Do not use a personal email. Activate Office Slide 2 of 5 Enter your s + your student ID followed by @kleinisd.net s123456@kleinisd.net

7 Section 4: ACTIVATE OFFICE The Sign In screen will appear. Enter your network password – the one you use to log into the computer. Activate Office Slide 3 of 5 Enter your network password (the one you use to sign in to your computer). s123456@kleinisd.net Network password

8 Section 4: ACTIVATE OFFICE You will receive a message that the computer has been added to your account. Click OK. Activate Office Slide 4 of 5 Click OK.

9 Section 4: ACTIVATE OFFICE The First Things First screen will appear. Click Accept. **Once you have successfully signed in, you should not need to sign in every time you use Office. **You can now close Word. Click Accept. Activate Office Slide 5 of 5 Return to Main Menu Return to Main Menu

10 Section 5: SIGN IN TO DYKNOW If the majority of your students cannot sign in to DyKnow, please move to the next section. Return to this section later in Tablet Camp.

11 Section 5: SIGN IN TO DYKNOW What is DyKnow? DyKnow is a tool that allows teachers to measure and improve student learning. DyKnow allows your teachers to: send student files collect student files conduct polls Sign in to DyKnow Slide 1 of 3

12 Section 5: SIGN IN TO DYKNOW Click on the Windows button and locate DyKnow. Click on DyKnow to open it. Sign in to DyKnow Slide 2 of 3

Username: s + YOUR 6-digit ID@kleinisd.net ex: s123456@kleinisd.net Password: Network password used to sign in to the computer Click Sign On. 15 Section 6: SIGN IN TO BLACKBOARD What is Blackboard? Blackboard is the LMS (learning management system) your teachers use to: post class announcements share and collect assignments create collaborative digital assignments Sign in to Blackboard Slide 1 of 5

16 Section 6: SIGN IN TO BLACKBOARD Access Blackboard on your Klein device through the link in StudentNet. OR Type in the following address: https://kleinisd.blackboard.com Sign in to Blackboard Slide 2 of 5

17 Section 6: SIGN IN TO BLACKBOARD Sign in to Blackboard Slide 3 of 5 Sign in with your ID number as your username (no S) and your network password. Enter your ID number only (just 6 digits, no S) Network password Enter your ID number (no S) & network password

18 You need to locate your KISD email address. Section 6: SIGN IN TO BLACKBOARD Sign in to Blackboard Slide 4 of 5 1. Click the drop-down arrow near your name. 2. Click Settings near the bottom of the Global Navigation Menu. 3. Click Personal Information.

19 Select Edit Personal Information. Locate your Email Address (Copy and Paste your email address in a Word document. Save the Word document in a secure location.) You may now exit out of Blackboard. 21 What is Google Apps for Education? Google Apps is a suite of applications that will allow students to work in the cloud. These apps include Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs, and more. Sign in to Google Slide 1 of 6 Section 7: SIGN IN TO GOOGLE

22 Play video Make Chrome Your Default Before you sign in to Google, let’s make Chrome your DEFAULT BROWSER. The Chrome browser works best with most programs. Click on the Windows button and locate the Chrome icon. Click on Chrome to open it. Click on Set as Default. Under Web browser, choose Google Chrome. Sign in to Google Slide 2 of 6

23 Section 7: SIGN IN TO GOOGLE Access Gmail through the link on StudentNet. OR Type in the following address: www.google.com Sign in to Google Slide 3 of 6

24 Section 7: SIGN IN TO GOOGLE Sign in to Google Slide 4 of 6 Sign in using the email address you located in Blackboard. (You should have pasted the address in a Word document.) Email address

25 Section 7: SIGN IN TO GOOGLE Sign in to Google Slide 5 of 6 Type the default password – Capital S + YOUR 6-digit Klein ID number + Capital X Ex: S123456X S123456X Enter Capital S + YOUR 6-digit Klein ID number + Capital X

26 Section 7: SIGN IN TO GOOGLE Return to Main Menu Return to Main Menu New Students: Read the new account message. Select I accept. Continue to my account. All Students: Change your Password to match your network password used to log into your computer. After selecting Change password, close out of the program. Sign in to Google Slide 6 of 6
