3 PROGRAM HISTORY & PROGRAM GOALS Tim O’Shea/ Al Rider (Founded in 1995) Youth lacrosse league owned and operated by Collegiate School Goal is to teach the fundamentals of the game in a safe and fun environment. Our “in-house” league provides competition for the girls each session. Striving for individual and team improvement, valuing effort and good sportsmanship are all paramount throughout all age groups. Over 650 players and 100 volunteers participate in Geronimo each year. We offer summer travel opportunities for those who wish to continue their lacrosse experience in a more competitive environment throughout the summer. 3

5 What We expect from you and your daughters Positive attitude ready to learn, improve and have fun! Attendance at all sessions. Good sportsmanship from all participants and spectators Prepared for each session with proper equipment: Stick/Goggles/Mouth guard/Cleats/Geronimo Jersey/Water bottle/Warm clothes if appropriate Please be on time for drop off and pick up! 5

6 General Session Outline 5 th /6 th - Practice/12 v 12 full field play ---also designate some Thursday night sessions to split the girls by their experience level and work with them on different aspects of the game based on their current level. This will allow us to develop each player's confidence, technique and tactical awareness at an appropriate and accessible pace. 3 rd /4 th – Practice/7v7 half field or 12v12 full field play 1 st /2 nd - Practice/Small sided games 6

7 RULES 3 rd -6 th Grade - Youth rules unless we have identified exceptions No checking to start with 3 second rule for good defense 20 min running halves with running clock Slaughter rule = draw when lead is 5 goals + No overtime No pass minumum 7

8 Playing Time Players should expect to play at least approximately 1/3 of a game **PLEASE** no stopwatches, this is an approximate guideline If an issue, please discuss with head coach or program leader 8

9 TEAM PLACEMENT All players were rated based on talent, ability, rating, experience, etc. Players will be assigned to a team by program leaders. We strive to make teams as even as possible, also mixing grades and having girls from different schools playing together. You will receive an email with team placement. We try to put siblings (who are both in either 5 th and 6 th grade or 3 rd and 4 th) together unless you ask us to split them up. Thank you for encouraging your players to be excited about their team placement! 9
