2 THE RENAISSANCE MOVEMENT: 1300 – 1600 The Renaissance movement was an explosion of new thoughts, innovations, and a heightened interest in the arts & literature. The educated men & women of Italy wanted to bring back the classical culture of Greece and Rome, while creating something new.

3 FLORENCE, ITALY The Renaissance movement began in Florence, Italy. WHY?!

4 HUMANISM Humanism – intellectual movement that focused on human potential and achievements.
